Guest Book - Shannon and Jeff

Shannon and Jeff - thank you for being soooo patient with this!

They are such a beautiful couple.  It was really fun working on these images.  The guests are going to love seeing this on the guest book table, and what a great keepsake for them!

Guest Book - Kate and John

Wow… Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  These last two months have been a WHIRLWIND!  I have soooo many things to post, but am in catch-up mode right now.  Kate and John’s wedding is next month, so we needed to get this guest book designed for them.  Here’s a sneak peak at some of the pages their guests will be enjoying.  (These are printed in a lay-flat hinged coffee table album that the guests will be signing notes and messages right on the blank spots on each photo page…. cool ‘huh?)

Stay tuned… much more coming soon.  (I hope!)

Rachael and Chase

It has been a busy few weeks.  I was able to go to SLC to shoot my cousin’s wedding.  (OK, my cousin’s daughter, but saying that makes me feel OLD… and since I had a birthday 2 days before the wedding, I don’t need any other reminders.)

This AZ girl was really excited to do a UT winter wedding.  Snow?  Jackets? Gloves?  What is that?!  Well, let me tell you… IT WAS FUN!  OK, cold, but so fun to do something so totally different.

These guys were great.  Rachael was dressed for the winter wedding (unlike several other brides we saw on the Temple grounds in short sleeves).  I just love how her cape works with the freshly fallen snow!

We were so lucky to have timed the day just right - every time we were outside it had stopped snowing… and even had blue skies for a couple minutes.  But snowed enough to give us a brand-new fresh blanket of snow to make everything BEAUTIFUL.

I love this shot of them walking out of the Temple with the snow blowing…

Mike came along with me to assist at the wedding and to celebrate my birthday… it was so fun to work with him again… it’s been a LONG time since I have had him shoot a wedding with me.  He got this shot below.  I LOVE IT!

This was a new one for me… these flowers were used on Rachael’s mom’s cake when she got married.  She had saved them and Rachael thought it would be neat to use them on her wedding cake!

I normally don’t include “formals” on my blog.  They are  usually kind of boring to look at, but this one is pretty special… this is my Aunt Diana, Rachael and her mom, Trisha (my cousin), and my grandma.  It is pretty neat when I get to shoot a wedding and have the grandparents there, but I don’t think I have done too many weddings with 4 generations!  Can you believe my grandma… 92 years old and still traveling all over!

I love all of these details.  Her dress was gorgeous… LOVE the flowers, and I love the rings just barely showing in this picture.

And of course, the sparklers shot.  One day I will get sick of this, I am sure, but I still love it.

Kate and John - engaged!

I am really excited to work with Kate and John on their fast-approaching wedding at the AZ Country Club.  I knew this had to be a great connection when I first met Kate and learned her name, Kate Elizabeth, is the same as my daughter’s.  This girl has got to have some good taste!  :)

We headed out to the Waterfront and Old Town Scottsdale to get some engagement shots.  I just love what we got!

This time of year…

This is such a busy time of year, but it is nice to sit back and really think about the true meaning and reason we celebrate Christmas.

This morning we received a phone call that my husband’s grandmother passed away.  This was expected, and today we are celebrating her 91 years of a very rich life.  I have had such a wonderful privilege of knowing her for the last 15 years.

The sad news is, we are on our way to UT tomorrow to shoot a cousins wedding and were hoping to be able to visit with her and say our goodbyes.  One day too late.  It has been such a reminder to me to make sure that we tell all of those we love how we feel and make sure we are not “one day too late”.  I need to remember to slow down a bit and enjoy the time I have with my kids and wonderful family and friends.

We are grateful for Nami and the wonderful example she was in our lives.  We are excited that she has returned home to be with her Heavenly Father and her dear husband that passed several years ago.  We are reminded of our Savior’s sacrafice and the true reason we celebrate Christmas.

With all that being said, I will now get back to adressing some work items… I have several posts and images that I need to get to clients.  I do apologize.  I sincerely tried to get these done before we left, but just didn’t.  They are on the TOP of my to-do list upon my return.

If you need to get ahold of us, please feel free to email or call… I will be checking messages.

The Rawls Family

I love this family!  Jef and I have been friends for YEARS… (yeah… we’re THAT old, Jef)!  Mike and I just love hanging out with Shurlin and Jef.  They have 2 boys and a girl all about our kids’ ages… we just wish they lived closer… and didn’t have a SUPER fun business that keeps them busy every weekend night… (not like I have too many of those free either).  Seriously, though… if you are in the Scottsdale area, you have to check out their comedy-improv troupe at Theater 168… the Jester’z.  It’s family friendy and sooooo fun!

I guess this is what they mean when the kids are climbing the walls…

Aren’t big brother’s the best?  They help you with everything… even getting that perfect smile for your picture!

Palmer Family

Don’t you just love AZ in December? And I just love this family.

Bret, Cindy and Lexi

It’s so fun to see how much kids grow each year!  Lexi is beautiful… a little ballerina, and has her own idea of what a photo shoot should all be about!  She did great, and we got some beautiful views up at the Four Seasons to compliment this gorgeous family.

This is my new favorite… LOVE.IT.

More Family Fun

I know I have skipped a few blog posts on some of the families these last couple weeks, but I will catch up as soon as I can… not going to say much - just right to the pictures.  These were done at Kierland Commons.

The Allred Family

Hello strangers!  It’s been awhile.  Wow!  I’m BEHIND.  Thanksgiving was a blur.  We had a GREAT time with my family (everyone in town)… lots of fun activities, little trips, and LOTS of fun to post about.  But, that will have to wait because somehow December crept up while I was eating left-overs and now I have CHRISTMAS CARD orders coming out of my eyeballs.  (Don’t take that literally.  That would be gross.  But I am going crossed eyed with this stuff.)

So, here’s a little catch up… meet the Allred’s.

Wow… good looking group!  I think this was my first family sitting of the year where I did not need to bring cheerios, jump up and down, or make funny faces. (OK, maybe I did a few times, but I won’t tell you who needed it…)

Kristin & Lee’s Album Sneak Peak

I just finished up the album design for Kristin & Lee’s album.  I’m loving it!  Please keep in mind, the finished album page will be a 12×24 inch panoramic spread.

Family Ties

First of all… love the colors for these pictures.  Reds and browns… ohhh… so pretty!  I ended up wearing brown that morning, and I just wanted to jump right in with this great family!

The fun thing about this family is grandma and grandpa send out their Christmas cards with their grandkids.  I have had several families do that as well, including my parents.  I’m just wondering if there is a not so secret message about where my parent’s true affections lie….

We shot some of Jack’s images a few weeks ago, so we spent a little extra time on getting some of Madeline & Grant.  Grant was the best!  He seriously has a job with me if he wants… he scouted out all the great places and told me where would make a really good shot.  He constantly was making sure that I would take more of just him, by himself!  Wow… who knew that a photo shoot would be so fun for a 4 year old?

White Mountains

Apparently it is winter.  At least that is what I hear.  Here in Scottsdale, well… we are LOVING our 80 degree weather… nice long walks, days at the park, jacuzzi at night, eating outside, keeping the doors and windows open…

Well, it really is great, but sometimes you just want to see the leaves change first hand to believe that Thanksgiving is a few days away and Christmas is right around the corner.  So, we headed up to the White Mountains for a long weekend to experience a few days of FALL.  (Thanks Dale! - by the way, if you need an INCREDIBLE realtor in the Phoenix area, definitely check out Dale Pavlicek!)

And thanks to the Richards for being able to come up with us at the last minute!  It was a blast to have you guys there!  I have plenty of pictures of you guys that I will upload in another post.

We did a lot of hiking, walking, and playing outside.  The boys LOVED riding “4-wheel” bikes.  “Mom, they’re not two-wheelers because I want the training wheels on, and that’s 4-wheels.”  This was their first experience with the bikes and could ride them all day long.

This next picture is my all time favorite.  I have NO idea what they are looking at, but I love that they are touching and no one is crying!

I made a comment a few months back to Mike that if our kids looked back at their childhood in pictures, they would think they didn’t have a mom.  Don’t get me wrong… I PREFER to take the picture rather than be in the picture.  However, Mike has taken that comment to heart and makes a very conscience effort to make sure that I get my fair share of pictures taken.  I suppose it is only fair…

And no, this was not set up!  They were playing in the leaves doing their own thing when I caught this image.  And yes, I will be ordering the largest canvas wrap of this image!  I just don’t know how one child that can cause so much trouble and frustration can be soooooo kind and loving.  Oh, Ryan… I do hope you always look after your baby sister.

Shannon & Jeff

A big congrats to Shannon and Jeff on their engagement!  These guys are so relaxed, organized, fun, organized, happy, organized, easy-going, organized, and gorgeous, and did I say, ORGANIZED!  Yes, that’s right… Shannon (aka PLANNER, according to Jeff) has her wedding pretty much all, well, PLANNED.  I’m so impressed!  I think I see a new career in her future…

Their wedding is going to be at the Royal Palms in May.  One of my very favorite Valley locations.  I’m really excited to be a part of their day!
